Company tour follows …

This lunchtime performance is a precursor to a Crux Dance Theatre company tour of National Schools and Secondary Schools in County Cork beginning in mid February 2011.

‘Behind the Scenes’ is choreographed by artistic director Jane Kellaghan and explores themes relevant to young audiences and their interests, the piece is specially designed and created to make it easy for the target audience to relate to the content of the work.

Celebrating the professional associations that The Firkin Crane continues to support. “The Best of” was produced  and hosted by The Firkin Crane, showcased by CruX Dance Theatre, Cork City Ballet & Croi Glan Dance Company.

CruX Dance Theatre with support from Sponsorship created ‘CruX In Motion’ choreographed by Jane Kellaghan.

The piece includes elements from a diverse body of work using extracts of various repertoire creating a medley of choreographic encounters and using elements of multimedia.

Dancers included:  Mark Carberry, Samon Presland, Amy Lawson, Ursula Chapman and Lorcan O’Neil.

A dance performance created by three contemporary professional Irish Choreographers Jane Kellaghan, Fearghus O’Conchuir and Mairead Vaughan with an International cast. Stage of My Mind examines the idea of “Self-estrangement”  in our hectic modern lifestyle and how we react to the common advice of “Pull yourself together”. The piece has three interperatations of this theme based on each choreographer.

This is an annual event and has been going since 2004. It showcases the work that has been done during the year with this particular aspect of cruX Dance Theatre. Past events have been enormously successful and very well received. Details are as follows.

This is our 8th year in existence. Having developed many exciting innovative projects over the years, the Arts Council of Ireland continues to support our work. This year we have invited Irish choreographer’s Mairead Vaughan & Fearghus O’ Conchuir to create repertoire work 2008, including a work from choreographer Jane Kellaghan.

Arrangements are being made to tour ‘A Triple Bill’ in September 2008, including a county tour of Cork, supported by Cork County Council. We are delighted to announce we open our tour at The Firkin Crane Theatre on Friday September 12th 2008, further details of tour to follow later.

We successfully toured to locations including Cork City, Galway, Dublin, Macroom, Crosshaven & Carrigaline.
